How 7th Level’s head of legal made Aline’s AI chat her daily partner

7th Level's head of legal tried ChatGPT, Claude, and toher AI. Aline AI is the only one she trusts for daily contract drafting and legal research.

Smahane El Yacoubi, who runs legal at the sales-training company behind the NEPQ methodology, had been brought in through the B2B team. They were running contract origination through ClickUp, and redlines in particular had become a drag on deal velocity.

“Prior to Aline, the contract workflow was a heavily manual process. It created a frustrating and cumbersome process for the B2B team,” Smahane recalls.

The team rolled Aline out on the sales side first, then layered in templates, approval workflows, and a centralized legal repository. Smahane, though, stuck with what she knew. New product launches, day-to-day review, and the friction of change management. Her own ClickUp habit sat unchallenged.

Then, in early 2026, she opened the chat for a routine redraft and left it open.

Challenge

“One of the big challenges with AI for legal professionals is that, while it can significantly improve efficiency, it can also create additional work if it is not used correctly or if the wrong tool is selected. In those cases, lawyers must spend extra time validating outputs and confirming accuracy. That concern is greatly reduced with this tool, because it relies on trusted, controlled sources rather than pulling information from Reddit or the Internet.” — Smahane El Yacoubi, Head of Legal, 7th Level

What she found wasn’t a new version of ChatGPT. She had tried ChatGPT. She had tried Claude. For a general counsel, AI that hallucinates isn’t a productivity tool. It’s a liability.

Citations hold up, too. When Aline references a statute, the reference points to the right statute. Drafts arrive with a different posture from what she had seen elsewhere: ask for a one-paragraph redraft and Smahane gets back seven paragraphs. The original language, the revised language, and the rationale behind each change are laid out so she can read the AI’s reasoning before she reads its output.

“If I ask, ‘Can you redraft this clause?’ and the clause I put there is one paragraph, I end up with seven paragraphs. It explains what the original was, what the redraft is, and why — what was the rationale. That you don’t have in some of the other tools,” she says.

She had also taken a legacy legal-AI tool for a test drive. Her verdict landed fast.

Solution

“I kind of got into it, started using it — especially the AI function — and for me, it’s been a game changer.” — Smahane El Yacoubi, Head of Legal, 7th Level

The efficiency gain for Smahane isn’t just faster research. It’s that the first pass is usable. When the draft comes back clean and well-reasoned, she spends her time refining rather than reconstructing.

“More efficient in my research, but also I gain time with the quality of the drafted information,” she says.

One more thing Smahane brought up unprompted: the support. A shared Slack channel with Aline’s team keeps turnaround measured in minutes, not tickets.

“Customer support is great. Literally — very quick turnaround if there is any issue, and that also makes a big difference.”

7th Level is in the middle of a broader migration of all legal contract work from ClickUp to Aline, a move Smahane expects to complete in the coming months. She’s also planning to build Playbooks for her most repeatable reviews. The B2B sales team is getting a fresh training session, so every contract request flows through Aline instead of landing in her Slack DMs.

It’s a meaningful shift for a legal function that had settled into its routines. It started with a single redraft in the chat.

Results

“The AI chat is a game-changer. I’ve tried well-known market alternatives, and I didn’t like any of them. I think yours is superior. Especially for a company that ’has only been on the market three years — that says a lot.” — Smahane El Yacoubi, Head of Legal, 7th Level
