How Mosai's Two-Person Legal Team Turned Vendor Reviews Into Minutes

Dan D'Alesio and Dori Stephens run legal for Mosai with a team of two. The company itself came together through a merger, leaving them with a contract portfolio inherited from both sides and largely signed before either of them arrived. With a growing customer base and no appetite for a heavy rollout, they needed a way to know what was in every agreement and to get through vendor reviews fast. They have been doing exactly that with Aline for about two years.

For the past four years, Dan D'Alesio and Dori Stephens have managed legal operations at Mosai with a team of just two people.

Their challenge became even more complex following the merger of Forcura and Medalogix. The newly combined company inherited hundreds of contracts from both organizations in addition to those signed during their tenure.

The immediate problem was visibility.

"Our biggest use case was understanding our obligations in existing contracts," Dan said. "It's only two of us. We need to know what's in all these contracts because many of them were signed before Dori or I were on board. Being able to provide quick answers to the C-suite about specific provisions was a major priority."

With more than 1,00 contracts to manage and no practical way to manually audit every agreement, the team needed a solution that could quickly organize, analyze, and surface critical contract information.

"We didn't want to have to audit 1,000-plus contracts manually," Dori said. "We had to have a solution."

The team evaluated many of the leading contract management platforms.

"We looked at probably eight or ten top industry options," Dori said. "They're all very slick and very expensive. We didn't have the budget, but we still needed something."

Cost wasn't the only concern. Most enterprise platforms required organizations to adopt entirely new intake and contracting workflows.

"Our company wasn't set up for that," Dan said. "We would have had to revamp our entire contracting process. That wasn't what we needed. It's only two of us, and our process already worked well for the company."

Mosai needed a solution that could fit into their existing workflow while providing immediate visibility into their contract portfolio.

Challenge

Mosai initially adopted Aline as a centralized contract repository, but it quickly became much more than that.

Using AI-powered reporting, Dan and Dori can now run targeted analyses across their entire contract portfolio and generate answers to complex legal and business questions in minutes.

"Prompt writing in Aline continues to become more intuitive," Dan said. "And you get your hand held by the AI itself. If you're stumped on how to write something, you can simply ask it to make it better."

The legal team regularly uses Aline to generate executive-level reporting on contract obligations, risk exposure, and compliance requirements.

The biggest transformation came in vendor contract review.

Historically, vendor agreements were among the most time-consuming and unpredictable legal tasks. Every vendor contract looks different, making it difficult to apply a standard review process.

"You can't just have one vendor agreement template and make it fit every situation," Dori said. "It's a square peg and round hole."

With Aline, the team receives structured reviews that identify high-risk provisions, surface negotiation points, and provide organized recommendations.

"You might have a five-page agreement, but you get fifteen pages back from Aline with helpful insight and an organized review," Dori said. "It prioritizes the highest-risk provisions and makes suggestions. It's really helpful and saves an enormous amount of time."

More recently, Dan and Dori have also begun using Aline's drafting and redlining capabilities to quickly create one-off documents that aren't already included in their template library.

The introduction of AI-generated playbooks further accelerated the review process.

"Now it's just boom—here's the document, create a playbook off of it, and you're set," Dan said.

Today, Aline helps Mosai:

  • Maintain a centralized contract repository and single source of truth
  • Answer executive and compliance questions through AI-powered reporting
  • Generate contract-specific vendor playbooks automatically
  • Prioritize high-risk provisions during vendor reviews
  • Reduce administrative legal work and focus more time on customer-facing initiatives

Vendor Reviews Reduced from Hours to Minutes

Vendor review has gone from one of the most unpredictable and time consuming parts of the legal workflow to one of the easiest.

"It takes the cumbersome nature out of reviewing vendor agreements and turns it into a very easy part of your workflow," Dan said. "It takes hours of our day and shrinks it down to minutes."

More Time for Revenue-Generating Work

By spending less time on contract administration, the legal team can devote more attention to supporting customers and business growth.

"We can spend more time on the customer side, which is revenue-generating," Dan said. "That's where we like to spend most of our time."

A Single Source of Truth

With contracts centralized in Aline, the legal team can quickly find information, respond to internal requests, and report on obligations without having to track down files across the business.

"Having our own source of truth is what we consider Aline right now for our repository," Dan said.

A Vendor That Listens

Beyond the technology itself, Mosai has been impressed by Aline's responsiveness to customer feedback.

"There are not many software applications I've ever used where my enhancement request was not only heard, but implemented," Dori said.

Dan agreed.

"Communications are personal. It isn't just 'Dear Customer.' Instead it is, 'Hey, we're doing this, Dori and Dan.'"

A Partner That Scales with the Business

As Mosai continues to grow, Aline has continued to support new use cases without requiring the legal team to change how they work.

"It has been very impressive," Dan said. "There hasn't been anything critical to what we're trying to do that it hasn't been able to do for us yet."
